Tensions across the Middle East have risen following a series of developments involving Iran, the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Repeated warnings indicate that the regional conflict could escalate rapidly.
Unconfirmed reports circulating on Sunday said Iran had raised its armed forces to what was described as “Code 100,” reportedly covering the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Iranian Army and security forces.
The claim has not been independently confirmed by any reliable authorities.
The reported development comes against the backdrop of heightened military tensions involving Iran and the United States, as well as renewed fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen.
US President Donald Trump also cut short his weekend stay at Camp David and returned to the White House earlier than scheduled.
The White House did not publicly provide a reason for the change in his itinerary.
The development coincided with a broad security warning issued by the US State Department, which urged Americans in the Middle East to exercise heightened vigilance.
The department warned of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions, saying the security environment remained complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation.
US diplomatic missions across the region, including the US Embassy in Israel, issued similar security alerts.
The warnings noted that Iran and groups supporting Tehran could potentially target US businesses and institutions associated with Americans.
The alerts followed a ballistic missile attack claimed by the Houthis and confirmed by Saudi authorities.
Saudi Arabia said its air defences intercepted and destroyed a missile launched toward Riyadh.
Further reports also indicated that a fire broke out near the Saudi capital’s King Khalid International Airport.
Israel has also been closely monitoring the situation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shortened his planned US trip, with reports indicating that he would return to Israel sooner than originally scheduled.
The developments come as Washington weighs its response to the escalating regional conflict.
Trump has previously indicated that he faces a major decision regarding further military action involving Iran, although there has been no official confirmation of an imminent new US strike.
Iranian officials have meanwhile communicated conditions for renewed negotiations with Washington through intermediaries, including demands relating to an end to hostilities, the release of frozen Iranian assets and the lifting of the US naval blockade.
Nevertheless, whether the separate developments are directly connected remains unclear.
