A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating his father, Musa Mohammed, during the ongoing Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) promotion examination in Abuja.
Monsuru was reportedly caught on Wednesday, the third day of the examination, while writing the promotion examination on behalf of his father, an employee of the FCT Fire Service, reportedly told security officials that his father was ill and had instructed him to sit for the examination on his behalf.
Security personnel had been deployed to monitor the exercise and prevent examination malpractice.
The examination, conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Abuja, is part of the promotion exercise for FCT Civil servants.
The case took further twist when Monsuru reportedly gave his father’s age 67 or 68, while Musa Mohammed said he would turn 60 in February 2027.
The father also provided details of his educational history, including completing primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.
Both father and son were subsequently questioned by DSS operatives and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Both authorities are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged impersonation and determine whether further disciplinary or legal action will be taken.
The FCT Civil Service Commission’s 2026 promotion examinations are scheduled to run from October 5 to 13.
