The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome murder and robbery of a family in Oloba Village, Largely Local Government Area, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement on October 6, 2026.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the suspects identified as Hammed Akinbami Ojo, and Padonu Edward, all residents of Oloba, allegedly invaded the residence of Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife, and their four children on September 22, 2026.
Ayanlade said the suspectscwere armed with locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses, and a club. During the attack, Hammed Akinbami allegedly shot the husband, while Akinbami Ojo inflicted injuries on his wife by hitting her on on the head.
The suspects reportedly tied two of the couple’s children by their hands and legs and threw them into a nearby river, while the remaining family members were killed and their bodies disposed of in the same river.
The remain my s of the wife have since been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to recover the remains of the other victims.
