Adele was criticised online over the photo of herself she recently shared on Instagram.
In the picture, Adele wore traditional African Bantu knots with a bikini top that has the prints of the Jamaican flag.
The singer captioned the photo, “Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London.”
The Notting Hill Carnival, since 1966, is usually held annually in London to celebrate Black British culture. However, as a result of the pandemic, the carnival took place online this year.
Adele trended on Twitter because of the photo. Social media users accused her of cultural appropriation and were shocked about her wearing the hairstyle.
