Former Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume has disowned a viral statement purportedly issued in his name, describing it as false and the handiwork of political mischief makers.
In a statement issued by his communications office on Wednesday, the former senator specifically denied authorship of a publication titled “A Message of Gratitude, Unity, and a Clarion Call to Rebuild Okigwe Zone,” which has been circulating across various media platforms.
According to the statement, Senator Araraume neither authorised nor approved the publication, insisting that it was deliberately fabricated to mislead the public, distort his position and create unnecessary tension within the All Progressives Congress in Imo State.
The statement reaffirmed Araraume’s unwavering loyalty to the APC, describing him as a disciplined and committed party member who remains faithful to the party’s constitution, leadership and internal democratic processes.
Following the controversy surrounding the Imo North Senatorial Primary, Araraume said he is patiently awaiting the party’s official position and final decision, stressing that he has not declared himself the APC candidate as claimed in the fake publication.
“He will only communicate through recognised and authorised channels,” the statement noted.
The former senator also dismissed reports suggesting a political rift between himself and Hope Uzodinma, insisting that both leaders maintain a cordial, respectful and constructive relationship founded on their shared commitment to the peace, progress and development of Imo State.
According to the statement, any claims of disagreement or hostility between the two leaders exist only in the imagination of those behind the fabricated publication.
Araraume further emphasised that the success of the APC is a collective responsibility, pledging to continue promoting unity, mutual respect and cooperation among party stakeholders.
He accused the authors of the fake publication of attempting to sow discord within the party and misrepresent his views, insisting that such efforts would not succeed.
The senator therefore urged APC members, the people of Imo North, residents of Imo State, the media and the general public to disregard the publication in its entirety, describing it as false, misleading and of no consequence.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the APC and his support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
