The reigning Miss University of Jos, Promise Dikko, has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of her fiance, who was reportedly killed by bandits just few months before their planned wedding.
The beauty queen confirmed the heartbreaking incident in an emotional Facebook post shared on Thursday June 11, 2026, leaving friends, supporters and social media users devastated.
According to Dikko, she and her fiance had already finalized preparations and made bookings for their wedding, which was scheduled to take place on December 27, 2026.
However, their dreams of spending a lifetime together were abruptly shattered by the tragic attack.
Expressing the grief, Dikko revealed that she had kept a cherished photograph of her fiance, intending to share it as their wedding day drew closer.

“RIP my hero. I kept this photo to post it when it close to wedding date”, she wrote.
The beauty queen disclosed that significant arrangements had already been made for their forthcoming nuptials before the tragic loss.
“December 27 was supposed to be the date. We have made prep and bookings. But you left me. Bandits killed you for me. Nigeria happened to me. Rest easy my hero”, she added.

Her emotional words have since sparked an outpouring of sympathy from online users, many of whom flooded the comment section with condolence messages and prayers for strength during the difficult period.
The tragic incident has also reignited concerns over the persistent insecurity and banditry attacks affecting several parts of Nigeria, with many lamenting the growing number of lives lost to violent crimes across the country.
As family members, friends, and well wishers mourn the deceased, Dikko is left to grapple with the painful reality of losing the man she had hoped to spend the rest of her life with, just months before they were to walk down the aisle together.
