Suspected Boko-Haram insurgents have attacked Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State on Saturday evening.
They burned down Kautikari Primary School during the raid.
Another school, Government Day Secondary School, in the same village was also set ablaze.
According to multiple reports, one person was killed during the attack.
The attack happened around 7:00 p.m.
Residents said the gunmen rode on motorcycles, carrying sophisticated weapons.
They passed through Mussa community in Askira Uba LGA before reaching Kautikari.
Mussa residents had just suffered an abduction of children and toddlers.
“We thought they were coming for us again,” a Mussa resident said, adding that villagers fled into nearby bushes when they saw the armed group.
Kautikari is about 10 kilometers from Mussa farms.
The burning of two schools adds to education challenges in Chibok.
Chibok became globally known in 2014 after Boko Haram abducted 276 schoolgirls.
As of press time, security agencies had not released an official statement.
The full extent of damage and casualties is still being verified.
