The Igbo race has adopted Professor Obiozor as an Igbo Personality that can correct the errors the past PRESIDENT GENERALs left unturned in the salvation of the Igbo race and to better the polity.

In speaking with 9News Nigeria, the National President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, (OYC), Cmrd. Igboayaka O. Igboayaka expressed profound regrets towards the obvious inability of Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organization, the parent body of the the organisation in unifying the race.

Igboayaka who expressed his shocked disappointment in an exclusive interview with journalist over the weekend Friday 12th March in his office, at Mbari Street, Owerri, Imo State capital, regretted that no existing government had ever striven to unite the Igbo race.

The President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, (OYC), Cmrd. Igboayaka O. Igboayaka said the unification of Ndigbo had remained paramount in the quest for the liberating the race from its age long restraints.

He maintained that the Igbo new generation under Ohanaeze Youth Council, (OYC) must “regain this aura, and reposition Ndigbo to its height of dignity. The first fundamental element of Igbo liberation is Uniting Ndigbo for political and economical purpose.

“There is no existing government that unites the Igbo race, even the Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organization which should serve as the Customary Government of the people according to the UN law on the establishment of Customary Government, has lost almost 35% of Ndigbo in the 8 states of Rivers, Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Benue, Cross Rivers and Bayelsa.

“The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) in their wisdom and drive for Igbo Unification has reached out to indigenous Igbos in the South-South and North Central(Kogi and Benue states), and set this brand of unification to the new leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo led by Prof. Amb. George Obiozor to adopt it. There’s need to change the narrative”, he wailed.

Cmrd. Igboayaka, while describing Prof. Obiozor as one of the outstanding Igbo elder statesmen with a sense of history of Igbo extractions and community territorial borders, expressed confidence that the present Obiozor led administration would in no doubts restore the long lost dignity of Ndigbo in South-south, Southeast and North-central.

Meanwhile, earlier in his speech, Cmrd. Igboayaka described the Igbo nation as the most united race in the world, but regretted that Governors and other leaders in the area had over the years, failed to put into effect structures for the political and economic survival of Ndigbo.

Hear him: “Ndigbo presently, are divided by politically created states and zones. But, by individual relationship and solidarity, Igbos are the most United Race in the world, but politically not in the path for economic development. That’s why it has been difficult for governors of Igbo extraction, even in the five major state of the established Southeast by Nigeria couldn’t come together to promulgate a framework for the political and economic survival of Ndigbo, the people they lead.

Speaking amidst heartbreak, Igboayaka bemoaned the apparent devastating fate of the Igbo man in some states in the Nigerian nation, saying, “Igbos in Edo and Akwa Ibom states are falling higher victims of socio-political marginalization with many of them changing their Igbo names just to have a fair share of the government largesse and other benefits because it seems that the large majority of Igbos carved in the so-called Southeast have abandoned their brothers. Igbos are one of the most populous race in the world and occupied the most vast land in geographical description but today the narrative is changing.”

“We have leaders in Igbo land who lead not, and don’t know what it means to be an Igbo man. In the last 50 years, the dignity of an Igbo person has reduced. The Igbo man other tribes see as lords and sacred being of the earth in 17th century is scarce to find, just few that have this aura of being an Igbo man. Igbo new generation under Ohanaeze Youth Council(OYC) must regain this aura, and reposition Ndigbo to its height of dignity.”
