Borno Workers Set To Get Minimum Wages As Gov. Zulum Constitute Committee For Implementation

Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State has approved the constitution of a committee to discuss modalities for implementing the new national minimum wage.

The committee’s establishment follows President Bola Tinubu’s signing of the new Minimum Wage Act into law last month, which set the minimum wage at N70,000.

The committee, chaired by Hon. Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Engr. Babagana Mustapha Malumbe, and co-chaired by Head of Service, Barrister Mallam Fannami, comprises 12 government representatives and 10 representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.

The committee’s duties include analyzing the current consequential salary adjustment at the federal level, determining the extent to which it can be applied in the state, and arriving at a reasonable and sustainable salary adjustment based on the state’s peculiarities.

Governor Zulum has directed the committee to commence work immediately, congratulating members on the opportunity to serve the state.
