Abuja High Court has sentenced former House of Representatives member, Hon Farouk Lawan to 7 years imprisonment over the 2012 $3 million bribery scandal.
Hon Lawan was the ad-hoc committee chairman investigating fuel subsidy malpractices under former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Lawan was accused of collecting $500,000 out of $3million as a bribe to drop a criminal investigation against a businessman and oil tycoon, Femi Otedola.
In the 2013 trial, Hon Lawn pleaded not guilty and was held in custody pending trial in February.
