Amidst the hardship ravaging the country and state,the Benue state government through the Benue State Urban Development Board, Begins the demolition of road side containers and illegal buildings within Makurdi Metropolis.
On Friday,13th September 2024,the Benue state Urban Development Board began a thorough demolition within Makurdi,Benue State.Landlords, tenants were seen packing out to avoid further loses.
9news Nigeria gathered that, a lot of containers housing provisions were destroyed along with the items in it,as according to Urban the people were already serve to move out before the said date. One of the landlord who spoke to 9News correspondence reveled that,he was shock when his stores were destroyed leaving other shops and kiosk untouched. According to the landlord;I am surprise that my building is affected,a building that has been here for over 20 Years? How?,come anytime, anyday I will always be in support of my state growth,but what I can’t condole is why demolished mine and leave others.It is very possible I was targeted,he stated!
Also reacting to the incident a tenant who pleaded anonymity said;I wish His Excellency would have talk to his people,so our places can even be demolished during dry season.Sadly,I have no where to go to.
The demolition began in the morning and ended in the evening of the said date with a lot of road side containers and illegal structures destroyed leaving Some landlords and Tenants to wept over their loses.
since the inception of His Excellency Governor Alia’s regimene this is the second time a demolition of such magnitude is carried out.
