Nigerians are therefore expecting a quash of the New electricity tariff billing from the outcome of the Ministerial Press Briefing by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, alongside with the Honourable Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, on the state of Nigeria’s Power sector.
The new tariff billing however sounds like an indirect fraud masterminded by the power sector to impoverish the Masses, despite NERC slam of huge fine in AEDC.
The National Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC is charged to withdraw the proposal to force the new electricity tariff on Nigerians.
This call came as an important and urgent need to stabilize the electric supply across the country.
Little wonder what the outcome of lighten Nigeria that was held in Enugu State few months ago has turned out to be. Or has the Abia state Governor’s policy to establish an independent Power Plant charged the sector to sit up.
These questions and more are still coming out from the minds of millions of Nigerians while the electricity regulator, NERC, has slammed a fine of N200m on Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) for wrongly applying the new electricity tariffs on some residents of the Nigerian capital.
The sanctions include a directive that the wrongly billed customers should be appropriately refunded.
Speaking to Newsmen, an affected customer frowned at a government that instead of increasing our power supply to 24hrs is busy increasing tariffs and some people call it development.
How on earth will any DISCOS be billing her customers on estimation , consumers are asking?
Accordingly, “This is cooperate exploitation, Federal Government are increasing the tariff for the same reasons they collected bailout fund for in the past.
Let the idea of increasing the New Tariff billing stop while government should improve on 24 hrs supply to help Nigerians.
Meanwhile, it is known fact that every other sector is dependent on power sector and any improvement and upgrade on its supply will automatically improve productivity and boost economy.
It is expected of the power Minister to act immediately since the briefing is ongoing.
