Breaking: Plateau Police Command Rescues Kidnapped Traditional Ruler, Arrest 2 Suspects

Plateau State Police Command has said it has rescued the Paramount ruler of Izere Nation of Jos East in Plateau state, Rev. Dr Isaac Wakili who was kidnapped in the early hour of Friday.

9News Nigeria gathered that the first class monarch was abducted at his palace at Shere district of Jos East Local Government around 5 am Friday morning. A statement signed by DSP Alfred Alabo, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Plateau State Police Command and made available to newsmen in Jos reads that inline with the assurance of the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Police Command, CP Bartholomew Onyeka reads that criminals will surely be apprehended during or after committing every crime in the state, abductors of HRH. Rev. Dr Azi Wakili, the Paramount Ruler of Jos East LGA, Jos has been arrested by gallant police operatives of the command. The statement read that 20/01/2023 at about 0100hrs a distressed call was received by Angware Police Divisional Headquarters of the command that unknown gunmen forceful entered the residence of Agwom Izere, HRH. Rev Dr Azi Wakili and kidnapped the Paramount Ruler, as soon as the information was received police operatives led by the DPO of Angware, SP Timothy Bebbissa raced to scene to rescue abductee but were engaged by the gunmen in a gun battle where one of the operative sustained a gunshot injury and one yet to be identified civilian guard was shot dead by the kidnappers.

In a relentless effort, the police, other security agencies and security help group strategized, swung into action, rescued the traditional ruler and arrested two suspects in connection with the nefarious act.

The statement further reads that investigation is still in progress.
