BREAKING:Taraba Village Head, Allegedly Collected N1.5M Bribe From Bandits To Set Camp In His Domain.

Nigerian Army troops have reportedly apprehended 23 bandits, including four women, in Taraba State, Northeast Nigeria. The bandits were allegedly harbored by a local chief, who received N1.5 million in exchange for providing a hideout.

The incident occurred on Sunday, February 2, at Angwan-Bala, in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area of the state. Captain Oni Olubodunde, spokesperson for the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, disclosed that the bandits relocated from Plateau State and were received and settled by the village head of Amar, Karim Lamido. Olubodunde noted that the troops recovered a cache of firearms, including four AK-47 rifles, and other ammunition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the bandits paid a local chief in Amar village N1,500,000 to acquire and establish their camp in the area. Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to the security and stability of Taraba State and its environs.
