About 140 youths comprising young girls trained by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE ) were at the weekend presented with various starter packs and take – off grants to be self -employed courtesy of the Buhari Support Organization (BSO ).
The empowerment programme sponsored by the Minister of State for Health, Dr . Osagie Ehanire. Performing the presentation of the starter packs to the beneficiaries trained on cosmetology , Ehanire said the programme of the President Muhammadu Buhari – led administration in collaboration with the NDE is aimed at building a better life for Nigerians through skills acquisition , entrepreneurship training and youth empowerment .
Edo State coordinator of NDE , Ayo Edegbai , while appreciating the efforts of the minister , noted that the collaboration between the NDE is to assist in training youths in vocations with a bid to tackling unemployment in the country .
Edegbai said the starter packs and take – off grants disbursed to beneficiaries is targeted at not only making them self – employed but self – reliant . The beneficiaries were provided with resettlement tools, empowerment items and cash sums to boost the skills acquired during training .
