In a display of friendship, unity, and shared cultural values, Chief Charles Orie paid a special Easter courtesy visit to the Awaka Ancient Kingdom, where he was warmly received by His Royal Highness, Eze Ndubuisi Osuagwu (Jnr.) and the distinguished members of the Regency Council.
The members of the Regency Council, already seated before Chief Orie’s arrival, rose in warm reception as they welcomed the revered guest and his entourage into the Royal Palace of His Royal Highness. The traditional rites commenced with the presentation of kolanut in accordance with Igbo custom and cultural heritage.
The Traditional Prime Minister, who received the august visitor, recounted the deep-rooted relationship between Chief Orie and the late Eze Osuagwu of blessed memory. He described Chief Orie as a trusted friend, a respected family relation, and a long-standing political ally of Awaka Ancient Kingdom. In his words, “Chief Orie is not a visitor; he is family, he is tradition, and he is a pillar in our political journey.” He noted that on behalf of His Royal Highness, the Regency Council, and the President-General of Awaka, Chief Orie is welcomed in three dimensions: as a cherished family friend, a cultural son of the soil, and a political partner whose presence brings goodwill.
Responding to the warm reception, Chief Orie expressed profound appreciation for the leadership and people of Awaka Ancient Kingdom, describing them as honorable, visionary, and genuinely supportive. In his remarks, he reflected on the political landscape of Imo State, noting that while many have ruled, the actual infrastructural and developmental impact on the people remains a point of concern. He emphasized that his personal and philanthropic efforts, which have touched communities across the nooks and crannies of the state, demonstrate his readiness to offer sustainable development if entrusted with greater leadership responsibilities.
As a gesture of goodwill, Chief Orie presented a generous sum of money to the Regency Council as an Easter gift, further cementing the bond of friendship and appreciation between him and the Kingdom.
The visit was capped with a royal treat: a sumptuous meal, accompanied by melodic renditions of traditional music reminiscent of the Oriental Brothers and classic Owerri highlife tunes, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and celebration.
In a vote of thanks, Hon. Golden expressed deep gratitude to His Royal Highness, the Regency Council, the President-General, and all dignitaries present for the warm hospitality. He noted that Chief Orie’s team looks forward to more fruitful engagements with the people of Awaka in the coming days and beyond.
Chief Charles Orie’s visit to Awaka Ancient Kingdom is not just a ceremonial call—it symbolizes friendship, a renewed vision for inclusive leadership, and a beautiful blending of culture, tradition, and political foresight. It was a day of honor, unity, and shared aspirations for a better tomorrow.
