It’s another good news for Comedian AY, as his movie ‘A Trip to Jamaica’ has broken his debut movie’s record as the highest grossing Nollywood/Hollywood movie in Nigerian cinemas.
The movie, which was released in September was produced by AY and directed by former Nollywood actor now based in America, Robert Peters. According to the Executive Director of Filmone Distribution, Moses Babatope, the movie brought in about N168 million revenue at the box office.
He said that the movie set a new benchmark in Nollywood as the first film to hit 35 million naira in its first weekend and the first film to hit 62 million naira in its first week. He added that the movie was currently the fastest film to get 100 million naira in 17 days, and the fastest film to reach 150 million naira in six weeks.
His debut movie, ‘30 Days in Atlanta’ was the highest grossing film of 2015 in Nigerian cinemas, beating other Bollywood, Nollywood and Hollywood films.
