The Nigerian Center for Disease Control, NCDC, has confirmed 2,123 new cases of COVID-19 in the country.

It was reported that the development represents the highest cases recorded since January 2021.

The health agency, while making the disclosure on Tuesday night via a post on its verified Facebook page, indicated that about four patients died from the COVID-19 complications in the last 24 hours.

The new figure brings the total number of recorded cases in the country so far to 227,378 with 2,989 deaths, while about 211,761 have been discharged.

Lagos State recorded the highest cases on Tuesday with 1,552 infections, followed by the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja with 197 cases and Edo with 155 infections.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday received the COVID-19 booster Pfizer Biontech vaccine, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja

This came as the country entered the fourth wave of the coronavirus disease following an over 500 percent increase in the number of cases in the past two weeks.
