Dino Melaye confirms suspension of PDP Acting National Chairman Damagun amid crisis resolution efforts

Former Senator, Dino Melaye has announced the suspension of Umar Damagun, the party’s Acting National Chairman.

Melaye today, clarified that the decision to suspend Damagun, rather than sack him, was in compliance with a recent court order.

“We have obeyed the court order because the PDP is a law-abiding party,” the senator emphasized.

The suspension is part of the party’s broader strategy to restore stability and unity within.

Melaye also expressed confidence that this action would aid in the resolution of the crisis, allowing the PDP to move forward.

“We are taking this step to show our respect for the rule of law, while also ensuring that the internal conflicts within our party are resolved amicably,” Melaye stated.

The PDP, Nigeria’s main opposition party, has faced internal divisions in recent months, with key members expressing concerns about leadership and strategy ahead of the next general elections in 2027.

Party leaders believe that temporarily suspending Damagun will create an opportunity to address the issues without violating legal mandates.
