With the appreciation of the Naira to the dollar, Nigerians are yet to confirm the reduction of market prices of goods and commodities in the markets.
This ugly fall has is a wake up call for government to set up regulation of prices of goods and commodities within the country Inspite market locations.
Our correspondents across the state report that almost all the states are yet to apply this order and yet to confirm the reduction by the naira increase against the dollar as sanctioned by government to reduce starvation and inflation.
Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Jos, Sokoto, Kebbi, Enugu, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Ebonyi, Zamfara and Imo states are yet to effect the changes across markets.
Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Ogun, Oyo, Niger and Benue states have not seen nor witness any reduction in the prices of goods and commodities in line with the orders of government on the recent dollar fall to naira increment.
Speaking with our correspondents across the states, reports are same from all the states of the Federation as prices have remained high and goods are exorbitant to lay hand on.
Meanwhile, the subsidy announcement without any supplementary solution was the first breaking point; the price of everything will skyrocket.
And secondly, marketers are greedy people normally, it will be had for them to reduce prices without proper regulation and enforcement by government taskforces.
The masses are thinking that the so called regulatory bodies maybe bought over to stamp on high Prices.
Solution: The state government must create a task force that will check and regulate normalcy in terms of price. Mobile courts have to be established for immediate trial of offenders.
The national orientation agency NOA have to braise up actions to create a continuous awareness via radio, television, social media, bulk sms and public places.
Standard organization of Nigeria have to be o regular check on the quality of products that are junked into the markets and apply necessary punishment to fake producers and manufacturers.
However, If such policy was adopted in Ondo state sometime ago and it worked, then government should key to same process and replicate it pan Nigeria, research revealed.
On the lifting of oil by the Dangote private firm , an expert who pleaded not to be mentioned stated that Government officials are celebrating private refinery while they can’t fix one refinery to be working and they don’t feel shame.
“I don’t know how this leaders think sometimes. Tell me another country in the world that they government officials will celebrate private refinery while federal government can’t afford to fix one refinery to be working for the country. They are busy looting public founds to themselves, anonymous frowned at the development.
