PDP agents put election on hold, commence vote buying in Uhunmwode, Esan Central, Ovia Southwest
Drama has erupted at polling centres in Edo state as PDP agents, protected by thugs have reportedly appeared at polling centres with offers to buy votes. This was reported by election observers in Benin City, who noted that the PDP agents have also prevented voting from taking place until the arrival of their leader.
It was gathered that around 10:15am, PDP agents appeared in Uhunmwode Ward 2, Unit 6, igniting chaos and insisting there would be no voting until and unless their party leader arrived. This held voters and INEC staff to a standstill.
Meanwhile, at Esan Central, Ward 7, Unit 6, miscreants suspected to be working for the PDP have also been reported trying to disrupt voting and intimidating voters, who have refused to accept financial inducements, and are now threatening them to go home without voting.
Furthermore, PDP agents in Ovia Southwest are reportedly brewing trouble in Ward 4, Unit 7, with APC agents trying to stop those of PDP from inducing voters with cash, a situation which has pitted them against each other.
In all the centres the police look on and seem helpless, as they allow the PDP heavy chests free rein to intimidate voters.
Concerned parties have, however, called on DIG, Adeleye Olusola Oyebade, and his assistants to rescue voters currently suffering the intimidation of the PDP agents and thugs across the state.
