The Council of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, has appointed Engr Kabiru Ahmed Wanori as the Chairman of its Regional Development Board.
He was appointed by the organization on Friday.
According to the society, Wanori’s appointment aims to promote engineering-led strategies for Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, focusing on infrastructural growth, capacity building, and economic empowerment.
As the new chairman, Wanori is responsible for assessing and identifying infrastructural and developmental needs of each geopolitical zone.
He is expected to also provide strategic guidance and recommendations on regional development initiatives and advocating for policies and programs supporting sustainable regional development.
Similarly, he is to ensure alignment with national and global development goals, such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Among other things, the tasks ahead of Wanori is to foster collaboration with stakeholders to develop and monitor implementation frameworks for regional development projects across the country.
Currently the head of Borno State Information and Communication Technology Development Center, (BICTDA), Engr Wanori is an experience administrator with experience in both private and public sector.
He served in the Borno State government in different capacities, including a commissioner for few ministries.
With decades of experience in the field of engineering and ICT, Wanori is poised on bringing important practice, management, and policy development to the role.
Engr. Tunde Ajanaku was also appointed as the vice chairman of the board.
Other members are, Engr. Adamu D. Ushiki, Engr. Bello Gwarzo Abdullahi, Engr. Prof. Umma Abdullahi, Engr. Etido Iyang.
The list also includes, Engr. Akinwumi Docas.l, Engr. Abimbola Odeyemi, Engr. Bashir Lawal, Engr. Dr. Isa Emaobino, Engr. Mohammed Adra, Engr. Venarious Chikodinaka and Engr. Arzika Emeasiba.
