Imo State political leaders, traditional rulers, family members, friends, associates and well-wishers joined the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Imo State, Chief Longers Anyanwu, at a thanksgiving service held to mark his birthday.
Chief Longers Anyanwu celebrated his birthday on Saturday, August 15, 2026, while the thanksgiving service held the following day, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, provided an opportunity for him, his family and well-wishers to thank God for another year of life and dedicated service.
The occasion attracted prominent political leaders, including the Member representing Okigwe South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chike Okafor, and Imo State elder statesman, Nze Fidelis Chukwu.
Also present were leaders from Okigwe, traditional rulers and other distinguished guests, including Barr. Chris Okewulonu, Hon. Kennedy Ibeh, who joined in celebrating the Commissioner and commending his contributions to public service and the development of Imo State.
Governor Hope Uzodinma was ably represented at the thanksgiving service by the Imo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Austin Onyedebelu.
The presence of the governor’s representative, alongside political leaders, traditional rulers and community stakeholders, signifies the goodwill and recognition accorded Chief Longers Anyanwu as he marked the milestone.
The Commissioner also used the occasion to showcase the agricultural potential of Imo State, distributing tubers of yam cultivated in the state to traditional rulers in attendance.
The gesture highlighted Chief Longers Anyanwu’s commitment to promoting locally cultivated agricultural produce and supporting the state’s agricultural sector, in line with his responsibilities as Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security.
The thanksgiving service was marked by prayers, goodwill messages and expressions of gratitude.
