Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted contraband materials believed to be destined for terrorist fighters, while also neutralizing multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Borno State.
The operation, carried out by troops of Sector 3, Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), and Operation HADIN KAI, was conducted near Gamboru in Ngala Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops were on routine patrol when they intercepted a major movement of illicit logistics suspected to be for fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
The interception occurred along unauthorized border routes known locally as Gates 3 and 4, situated along the Nigeria–Cameroon border.
According to military sources, the patrol team observed individuals attempting to ferry assorted goods toward a riverbank that leads into Cameroon.
Upon sighting the troops, the suspects abandoned the items and escaped across the river.
The recovered items, though yet to be fully disclosed, are believed to include supplies critical to sustaining terrorist activities in the region.
In a separate but related success, troops operating in Gwoza Local Government Area uncovered and safely detonated 14 IEDs planted along commonly used routes.
The operation was executed without casualties, averting what could have been a deadly attack on the community.
Military authorities have described the twin operations as a “major stride” in efforts to dismantle insurgent supply chains and safeguard local communities.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements and ensuring peace returns to affected regions.
The latest success further highlights the effectiveness of coordinated patrols, intelligence sharing, and inter-agency collaboration under Operation HADIN KAI and the MNJTF framework.
