The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) assured Nigerians and the Organised Labour that better minimum wage will result from the ongoing negotiations.

The Governors gave the assurance after an emergency meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

The meeting comes a day after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) stepped down minimum wage review memo to allow for more consultations.

The Governors also deliberated on other issues affecting the Country, including the ongoing Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.

President Tinubu in his Democracy Day speech on June 12, 2024 assured the organised Labour that the Executive Bill on the new minimum wage for workers would soon be sent to the National Assembly.

The President is expected to make a decision in the N62,000 proposal of the Government and private sector, and labour’s N250,000 demand.

However, The Governors chose to hold an emergency meeting on after the Federal Executive Council postponed the minimum wage discussion on Tuesday to allow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to conduct broader consultations.
