The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has told the new Commissioner of Police, Abdullah Chafe, to help sustain the peace currently being enjoyed in the state.
Fayose, who stated this while receiving the police in his office urged him to focus on police work and emulate his predecessors by shunning politics and working assiduously for Ekiti to be crime free.
According to the press release issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the governor said crime rate in the state was very low, while life and property were properly secured.
Fayose, who reiterated his commitment to ensuring that Ekiti state under his watch would continue to enjoy the relative peace noted that there had never been any case of political killing since he assumed office.
The governor assured the police boss of his readiness to collaborate with the police authorities and other security agencies to rid the state of any form of crime.
Stating that he received the posting of Chafe to the state with mixed feelings, the governor promised to give him the benefit of doubt and collaborate with him as he did with his predecessors.
He promised to make available  land and other things that will provide a conducive atmosphere for the police to operate optimally in the state.
Earlier, the police boss said that the visit became necessary in order to familiarise with the governor and inform him of the challenges being faced by the police in the state.
He said he was posted to the state to protect life and property, stressing that it was his priority.
“I will put my long years of professional experience into the job to sustain the current peace being enjoyed in the state,” he said.
