The Federal Government has launched the Nigeria Procurement Certification Portal.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this during the official unveiling of the portal developed by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) in collaboration with the World Bank.
Idris stated that it is transformative platform aimed at addressing procurement inefficiencies and enhancing accountability across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
He described the platform as a bold step in President Bola Tinubu’s governance reform agenda, stating that it was designed to tackle procurement bottlenecks, poor practices, and skill gaps that have hampered public sector efficiency.
“The Nigeria Procurement Certification Portal is a critical tool that will drive transparency, competence, and accountability in our procurement processes.
“It also offers structured training and internationally-recognized certification for procurement professionals,” the Minister said.
Idris urged all MDAs to fully adopt the platform, stressing its potential to instill best practices in public procurement.
He also called on the media to play an active role in promoting awareness and monitoring the implementation of the initiative to ensure its success.
The portal is expected to become a cornerstone of Nigeria’s public sector reforms, aligning with global standards.
