Nigerian rapper and singer Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz has clarified his controversial statement that fornication is not a sin, saying he practices the religion of love.
The artist made the remarks during an interview with Arise TV, following backlash over his earlier post on X, where he stated: “Fornication isn’t a sin”.
The statement drew criticism from both Christian and Muslim users who quoted scriptures to challenge his claim.
Falz responded by saying his comment was not made from a standpoint based on religious doctrine.
In his words: “I think people would read and tweet and just assume that all I meant according to Christianity. I wasn’t really speaking from that perspective. I practice the religion of love. Under that religion, I don’t think fornication is a sin”.
He also questioned the basis for condemning premarital sex.
“These are two unmarried people. Willingly, consensually. personally, I don’t think there is a problem there”.
Falz’s statement has continued to generate mixed reactions on social media.
