Fubara/Wike war:House of Assembly writes INEC, declares 25 seats vacant, calls for bye election

As the show of power of who actually governs Rivers State unfolds daily with various twists, the State House of Assembly has on Wednesday 13th December 2023 passed a resolution declaring that the seats of the 25 state legislators voted on the platform of the People Democratic Party -PDP who decamped to All Progressive Congress-APC are vacants.

The resolutions of House sighted in an official letter signed by the factional Speaker Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ehie Ogerenye Edison and dated December 14, 2023 is addressed to the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission – INEC.

The letter of the Rivers State House of Assembly which was received by INEC in Abuja on Friday 15th December 2023 has the same copy sent to the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Port Harcourt.

The speaker letter has an attachment of audio and print evidence of the defection of the 25 members and it’s also calling on the electoral umpire to conduct a bye election in the affected State constituencies to replace the decampees.

The official communication of the Rivers State House of Assembly with INEC which is the creation of the incumbent Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara camp is yet to receive the reply of the immediate past Governor Nyesom Wike faction whom unlookers alleged to be an actor the State crises.
