… Hon. Gagdi condemns attacks
Several persons have been feared killed as gunmen stormed Kanam local Government Area of Plateau State.
Our correspondent gathered that some houses were burnt following the Sunday afternoon invasion of the Communities.
The worst hit among the attacked Communities is said to be Kukawa, which shares a boundary with Bauchi State.
Others Communities affected are Dungur, Keram, and Gyanbahu.
The House member representing Pankshin, Kanam and Kanke in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, in a statement made available to newsmen, said he was in Medina on a less hajj along with some of his colleagues when the news of the attacks broke.
Gagdi said he was going to cut short the less hajj and return to the country in order to visit the affected Communities to console victims of the attacks, provide relief materials as well as to see for himself the extent of damages inflicted on the Communities.
He expressed outrage over the devastating State of security in the Country, Positing that somebody has been negligent in the discharge of his duties to Nigerians, maintaining that it was high time the Federal Government-owned up to their inability to discharge this sacrosanct duty it owes Nigerians.
According to him, the Federal Government, which has exclusive control of the security apparatus has woefully failed in its primary responsibility of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.
The Lawmaker commended Governor Lalong for his swift response to the dastardly situation, even though the governor has no direct control over the security operatives within the State, his swift intervention to reach out for security interventions in times of infraction has always been commendable, He said.
He commiserates with the family of those who lost their loved ones and prayed God Almighty to forgive their shortcomings and grant them everlasting rest.
