Former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly and renowned public speaker, Hon. Ike Ibe, has extended his heartfelt greetings to Christians and Muslims as they embark on the solemn seasons of Lent and Ramadan, respectively.
In his message today, Hon. Ibe acknowledged the significance of Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the Lenten period for Christians worldwide.
He urged believers to use this time for deep reflection, repentance, and acts of kindness, emphasizing the essence of sacrifice, faith, and spiritual renewal.
“Ash Wednesday is a day that we are reminded of our mortality. It is a day that we are reminded that we came from ash and shall return to ash.
“As we enter this sacred season of Lent, I encourage our Christian brothers and sisters to embrace the virtues of humility, love, and charity, which are at the heart of this period.
Let us use this time to pray for peace, unity, and the progress of our nation,” Hon. Ibe stated.
Similarly, as the Muslim faithful prepare to commence the holy month of Ramadan, Hon. Ibe expressed his best wishes, recognizing the period as one of devotion, fasting, and self-discipline.
He encouraged adherents to uphold the values of compassion and generosity, which define the holy month.
Ibe called on Nigerians of all faiths to use these spiritual periods as an opportunity for national reflection, mutual understanding, repentance and collective efforts toward a more just and prosperous society.
“Let us support one another and work together to build a better Nigeria,” he concluded.
