Hundreds of residents from Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State have fled to the neighbouring Benin Republic following renewed attacks by armed bandits.
Engineer Abdurahman Bala Gambo, the House of Representatives member representing Borgu and surrounding communities, told BBC Hausa that attackers, stormed Konkoso town, forcing residents to abandon their homes in fear for their lives.
The attacks are part of of growing wave of violence in northern Nigeria, where rural communities have been increasingly targeted by armed groups.
Lawmakers have condemned the assaults and urged for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable border communities.
