Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has revealed that he spends N40,000 every single day to keep electricity running in his home, highlighting Nigeria’s deepening power crisis.
Speaking in an interview on African Independent Television (AIT), Edochie explained that he spend N1.2 million monthly on cost, including electricity, diesel, and petrol for generators.
“I pay Ten thousand naira for light everyday in my house. Then, I spend additional Thirty thousand, Twenty for diesel, Ten for fuel. On the whole I spend Forty thousand every single day on light. It disturbs me a lot”
The actor said the situation reflects the broader hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians who struggle daily with the country’s electricity challenges.
He expressed frustration over worsening power supply, saying political leaders seem more interested in power than in solving the hardship affecting ordinary Nigerians.
He said, “Nobody seems to be bothered about what is happening to common man”.
The situation reflects what many households across the country are facing, with power generation dropping due to massive gas shortages, leaving millions with only a few hours of electricity daily.
