IMF Mission Begins Talks In Ukraine On Loan Review

The International Monetary Fund, IMF, mission has started discussions in Kyiv on the seventh review of the Extended Fund Facility, EFF, programme.

This was revealed by the IMF Resident Representative in Ukraine, Priscilla Tofano, stressing that the mission, led by IMF Ukraine chief Gavin Gray, launched talks on the review.

9News Nigeria reports that On February 6, 2025, IMF Communications Director Julie Kozack stated that the fund would allocate 900 million dollars to Ukraine after the next review of the current loan programme, as further details of the mission’s work are yet to be made available.

Local reports revealed that Ukraine expects to receive 917.54 million dollars for its budget if the EFF programme review is successfully completed.

In December, the IMF Executive Board completed the sixth review of the EFF, leading to a disbursement of approximately 1.1 billion dollars to Ukraine.

Facing a record budget deficit of 43.9 billion dollars in 2024, Ukraine continued to rely on international assistance to cover a substantial portion of its financial needs.
