UMUOMA NEKEDE, Imo State — The owner and developer of Emetuo Layout in Umuogba Extension, Umudoche, Umuoma Nekede, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, has issued a one-month notice to landowners within and around the developing estate to come forward for discussions ahead of a proposed bush-clearing exercise aimed at addressing security concerns.
The notice follows concerns that overgrown bushes and illegal refuse dumps on abandoned plots have allegedly created hiding places for suspected criminals, while some locations are reportedly being used as settlements by herders, raising fears among residents about the safety of lives and property.
According to a public notice issued by the developer, efforts to identify and contact some owners of affected plots have been unsuccessful, as their identities and contact details have reportedly remained difficult to establish.
The developer said the one-month notice takes immediate effect, urging all individuals with land interests within and around the affected areas to establish ownership and participate in discussions before the proposed exercise begins.

The notice further stated that the developer intends to commence clearing the bushes within the layout and its immediate surroundings after the expiration of the notice period, subject to necessary permissions, consultations and applicable legal requirements.
It added that photographs and video recordings documenting the existing conditions of the affected areas have already been taken, with further documentation planned as the clearing and development activities progress.
Landowners whose properties may be affected have been advised to contact the developer within the notice period to discuss the proposed exercise and explore mutually acceptable arrangements, including the possible incorporation of their plots into the estate or relocation options where necessary.
The notice urged all concerned property owners and interested persons to take advantage of the one-month window to resolve outstanding issues before the proposed exercise commences.
For enquiries and discussions, affected landowners may contact the developer on 08058050707 or via email at [email protected].
The notice also disclosed that the Traditional Ruler of Umuoma Nekede Autonomous Community, Eze Morrison Eke, and the Divisional Police Officer of Umuoma Nekede Police Division, CSP Charles Ikemereh, have been informed of the arrangement.
