The rumoured presidential ambition of former President Goodluck Jonathan if brought to reality may distort all other Presidential aspirations.
Jonathan failed to be reelected in 2015 and has severally indicated interest to re-contest if he can secure the support of majority.
Viral information on all social media platforms say he is set to contest the 2027 presidential election to address economic and security challenges on the platform of Nigeria Democratic Party (NDP) or through the People Democratic Party (PDP).
Multiple reports suggest Jonathan has accepted calls from stakeholders to run again for a single term of four years.
But his fears, he has reportedly said:
“We have the lowest turn out at election and highest level of voter apathy in Nigeria. You are asking me to come and contest the next presidential election. Presidential race is not computer game, but I have heard you, and I will consult widely.”
If Jonathan comes out to genuinely contest, the Southern Nigeria votes which could only be shared between Bola Hamed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Peter Obi of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will also have Jonathan as another serious contender.
Moreover if Jonathan contest, the North will vote Atiku Abubakar if he remains in the African Democratic Congress (ADC)
In the other hand, if Jonathan contest on the platform of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) this new party will be fractionalized if he wins the primaries, because Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will walk away from the party.
On the whole if Jonathan contest, all presidential candidates from southern Nigeria extraction will lose to whoever the North will present.
