It was a combined moment of grief today as the Member of Governing Council, Federal University of Calabar, Hon. Ashaver Benjamin PhD, buries 3 relatives whom were gruesomely murdered buy unknown gunmen, Lates Teryem Uba; Desmond Ishimanyian; and Aondoyima Clement, in Chito, Torov, Azendeshi, the Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State, amidst tears.
Dr. Ashaver, while pleading with his kinsmen, condemned the act of killing another human by whatever means and said it was ungodly stating, it is more godly for anyone who feels aggrieved with a brother to learn the global tenets of Peace and Unity, which according to him, are the best practices for social justice.
The three times former Benue Commissioner, begged both deceased family’s indulgence in calm, while looking up to God as the comforter, even as he sent warm regards to the Executive Chairman of Ukum Local Government, Comr Tyoumbur Kartyo, for show of solidarity and supports which gave a befitting burial of the three.
He further called on Torov Traditional Rurals to summon a Re-union meeting without delays, saying even when the teeth rumbles with the mouth, both later reunite for a coordinated chewing agreement.
In his address to the people, the Executive Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area, Hon. Tyoumbur Kartyo, represented by his deputy Comr. Solomon Akpaaku, sympathized with party Stewarts, and entire people of Torov for losing such number of citizens at a time, while urging the people to draw closer to his administration, so as to be part of its dividends, when his doors are widely open.
The chairman’s representative, eulogizing in his home town, pleaded his fellow Youth in the name of God Almighty, to sheath weapons and embrace Peace and Unity as ways of solving differences.
Earlier, Hon. Alfred Kave, pleaded his people to leave the dastardly act of killing people with gun. He reminisced good old days on how Torov people were known for progressive agenda and good name.
The former Ukum Local Government Secretary, re-echoed the first Community Secondary School to meet Ukum was that of Torov, also adding that the good old days of exemplary leadership styles of HRH Lanve Malu; Ukaa Ikyuan; Hon. Terhemba Gwanger of blessed memories; himself, Hon. Ashaver, and many other Torov sons and daughters extolled Peace, Unity and progress.
In their Royal orations both HRHs Zaki Apevkirgh Nyitse, the Ortar Mbagir, and Zaki Ortule Mende, the Tyoor Azendeshi, thanked the council chairman, Ashaver, Kave and everyone who stood to preach Peace and Unity. They both advised subjects to desist from acts capable of defiling their communities, and pleaded for a seize fire from the Youth folk.
