The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has announced that on the 5th of October 2024, the Local Government Election will be conducted in the 23 local government Areas of the state.
The chairman of Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) Justice Enebeli Adolphis conveyed a meeting with all stakeholders and different political party leaders at the commission headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
In his address, he commends all stakeholders and political party leaders for showing up and assures that the Local Government Election will be conducted this year 2024.
Justice Enebeli said we have had critical meetings with the state government and all plans are on to ensure the local government takes place by Saturday 5th of October 2024.
We as a commission are fully ready to work with all registered political parties that are ready to fill their choice of candidate for the upcoming election.
We will make sure all stakeholders are properly informed of the process and ensure they participate fully in the exercise.
It’s a local government election that will take place in the 23 local government areas in the state, and also call on the security agencies that work with us to ensure there’s no breaking down of the rule of law During this process ” he added”
