In spite of the recent internationally controversial arrest of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Kenyan authorities at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport may have continued to arrest every Nigerian known to be of Igbo tribe arriving or transiting at the airport.
According to an unconfirmed viral voice note supposedly made by one of the passengers who happened to be present at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport while transiting there on his way to Lagos, Kenyan airport authorities have continued to arrest Nigerians whom they accuse of being IPOB Igbos.
In the voice note, the passenger explained how four Nigerians on a transit flight were nabbed by the Kenyan airport authorities after they were interrogated and found to be Nigerians of Igbo descent.
The man who did not mention his name said that he witnessed the interference and arrest of the passengers who were on transit in Nairobi while travelling to Nigeria.
He explained that he was travelling from Europe with his European girlfriend and that their flight was on transit in Nairobi, Kenya. He said that while they were all waiting for the boarding of the next flight to Nigeria, some Kenyan airport authorities started checking the passports of some passengers and asking them if they were Igbo. He said that when any one of the passengers were found to be Igbo, the security agents would say that they were IPOB members and then take them away.
He further said that the authorities accosted him and demanded to see his passport and that after noticing that he was holding a European country passport, they insisted that he was an Igbo man to which he told them that according to his passport, he was not a Nigerian to start with. The authorities then left him after an intense argument.
The man who was traumatized further explained that at least 4 of the passengers taken away by the Kenyan authorities did not make it flying with them and that he is worried about what would have been their fates.
