Wakama was born in North Carolina to parents who are from Rivers State, Nigeria. She led the Nigerian team to win the Women’s Afrobasket Championship by defeating Senegal 84:74 in the championship game last week.
She also made history as the First Female Coach to win the competition since it began in 1966.
