Information obtained by 9News Nigeria reports that the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda has resigned as the leader of the House.
Meranda made this known during plenary on Monday while reading her resignation letter, noting that she resigned alongside all principal officers appointed alongside with her.
9News Nigeria reports that part of her words were; “This is a notice of resignation as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly,” Meranda read her resignation letter out at the plenary Monday on afternoon,” she said at a special plenary on Monday.
Meranda assumed office on January 13, 2025, following the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, who is reportedly poised for reinstatement.
Despite her brief tenure, lawmakers during Monday plenary lauded her ability to lead effectively and foster a positive atmosphere in the Assembly.
