Ms Damilola Ogunbiyi has been enlisted by Forbes as the only Nigerian on the FORBES SUSTAINABILITY LEADERS 2025 LIST as released.
Her emergency is a testament of her efforts and dedication in the global sustainable energy reform as 9News Nigeria reports.
On this feat made, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has made his congratulation known on behalf of all Nigerians for Ms Damilola.
Ms Ogunbiyi, is CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All and rewarded on being the only Nigerian named on the Forbes Sustainability Leaders 2025 list of 50 global leaders driving climate action.
The President commends Ms Ogunbiyi for her leadership in promoting an equitable energy transition that benefits underprivileged communities, especially across the Global South. He notes her work in championing the UN-led Energy Compacts and the Mission 300 partnership to provide electricity to 300 million Africans by 2030, initiatives that reflect Nigeria’s continuing contribution to the global climate and energy agenda.

Damilola Ogunbiyi is a remarkable Nigerian leader making waves globally in sustainable energy. She’s the CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), and Co-Chair of UN-Energy.
She has some significant achievements and roles in the energy Sustainability globally to include:
Leading SEforALL: Under her leadership, SEforALL has partnered with over 200 organizations, supported more than 90 countries, and secured commitments exceeding $1.6 trillion in energy finance.
Advocate for SDG7: Damilola passionately champions Sustainable Development Goal 7, focusing on affordable, reliable, sustainable energy access for all by 2030.
Nigerian Electrification Project: As the first female Managing Director of Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency, she spearheaded a $550 million project (World Bank and African Development Bank) providing energy access to over 5 million Nigerians.
