It all began in January 2021, with a dormant LinkedIn account. Back then, I never imagined that this platform would become the canvas for a remarkable journey of self-discovery, professional growth and impact , and community building.

The Initial Hesitation
Starting something new can be intimidating and scary, especially when you’re venturing into the world of content creation on a platform like LinkedIn. I was no exception; I had doubts and fears swirling in my mind. Would people even care about what I had to say? Was I qualified to share my experiences? Would I offer value at all?
It was a chance encounter with a friend, someone I had just met, that turned the tide. They saw potential in me, something I hadn’t yet recognized in myself. Their encouragement became the catalyst for my journey.
The Early Days
My LinkedIn journey began with baby steps. I started by sharing my experiences as a nurse. At first, my posts received minimal engagement, a handful of likes, and the occasional comment. It was easy to be discouraged, but I had made a promise to myself – I wouldn’t give up so easily.
Perseverance and Growth
The path to success is often paved with setbacks, and I encountered my fair share of them. But I refused to let these early struggles define my journey. I kept writing and consistently sharing my insights, opening up about the challenges and triumphs of being a surgical nurse.
Over time, something incredible happened. People started to resonate with my content. Slowly but surely, the likes and comments grew, and my follower count started to climb. It was as if my words were connecting with the hearts of others who shared a similar journey. I began to have people reach out to me for mentorship and encouragement to begin their own journey as well.
Building a Community
The true magic of my LinkedIn journey wasn’t just the numbers; it was the sense of community that began to form around my content. I found myself engaging in meaningful conversations with fellow professionals, sharing stories, and providing support to those who needed it.
To me, my followers weren’t just numbers; they were a diverse group of individuals who shared a common passion for nursing and healthcare. Together, we became a community of learners, collaborators, and supporters.
LinkedIn Nurses
As my journey continued, it led to the birth of something truly special – “LinkedIn Nurses.” This nonprofit organization emerged from a desire to amplify the voices of nurses on LinkedIn and beyond. It’s a platform where nurses can share their stories, connect with peers, and contribute to positive change in healthcare.
The Present Day
Fast forward to today, and my LinkedIn journey has surpassed my wildest expectations. I’m humbled and grateful to have close to 50,000 followers who engage with my content regularly. The support and encouragement I’ve received has been overwhelming. Through my valuable work with LinkedIn Nurses, I have been privileged to speak at several virtual workshops , webinars, and in-person conferences across the country.
