NAFDAC rejects N135m bribe, seizes 10 trucks of fake and expired drugs in Anambra

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC), has seized over 10- trucks, each carrying a 40- foot container of fake, expired, and falsified drugs at the Ogbo-Ogwu Bridge Head Market in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The operation which began on Monday, has exposed and confiscated substandard and adulterated drugs worth billions of naira.

According to NAFDAC, the market serves as a hub for repackaging and revalidating expired medicines with fake claims, which are later sold to unsuspecting consumers.

Several individuals were arrested for obstructing the raid, and NAFDAC officials rejected bribes totaling N135 million offered to halt the enforcement.
