A Nigerian woman, identified through the flight manifest as Nweke Ifeoma gave birth on Monday inside a Turkish Airline flight from Istanbul, Turkey to Manchester, United Kingdom.
Ifeoma was delivered of a baby girl by the help of the cabin crew who took her to a more secluded part of the aircraft as a Doctor on board also volunteered to assist.
Both mother and baby were found to be in good health after delivery.
Because of the unexpected delivery of ifeoma, the flight was diverted to Vienna International Airport in Austra where paramedics were waiting for the new mother and baby upon landing.
“Cabin crew members are trained for these type of situations,” a statement from the airline company read.
Paramedics met the new mum and her baby on the tarmac before taking them to the hospital.
