Nigerian woman arrested for stealing 7-day-old baby at naming ceremony in Nasarawa

Operatives of Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a female suspect, Khadijah Aliyu for a 7-day-old baby girl at a naming ceremony in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ramhan Nansel who confirmed the arrest said the incident occurred behind the office of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, in Keffi on Saturday September 28, 2024.

According to the statement, the suspect who was arrested by police operatives attached to Keffi Division of the Police Force.

“While the event was ongoing, she sneaked into the house and stole the baby that was laid to sleep, carned the baby behind her back, covered her with a veil and escaped before she was later arrested”, he said.
