The National Leader of the Yoruba Intellectual Elites Forum, Otunba Ronke Kolade Carew Rontex has urged Nigerians to be thankful to God for giving them President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at this critical moment of Nigeria’s political experience.
She said this on Saturday at a Retreat organised by the Forum for its leadership at Infinity Events Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State. She said “President Tinubu knows what to do to take Nigeria out of the present precarious situation to its El Dorado”. She opined that Lagos didn’t just get it right in a sustainable manner as we have it today. A formidable foundation was laid, and it took Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his team not fewer than two solid years for that foundation to be laid. So, what we are seeing today in Lagos is a function of painstaking, consistent and continuous application of political wizardry. He did not just wish it. He envisioned a new Lagos and worked tirelessly on the vision for us to see what we are now seeing today in Lagos.
She posited that if Nigerians could be a little bit patient with the president to fully implement all the policies he has embarked upon, Nigerians would soon begin to enjoy the gains of these pains. She called on Nigerians to recollect how monies meant for the benefit of all Nigerians were syphoned into private pockets with impunity and reckless abandonment before President Tinubu came to Office, which were some of the reasons why we are at this point today.
Talking about the Bureau De Change operators’ licences that were revoked by Mr. President, Otunba Carew Rontex expressed strong belief that it was the right way to go as that would help stabilise the strength of the Naira since majority of them have been seen to be sabotaging the efforts of the government. “The fuel subsidy removal and the floating of the naira too were both geared towards restoring the dignity of the Naira against the dollar”, she said.
Otunba Rontex, however, called on the President to remove with immediate effect, those appointees of his who are not
functioning. Some persons appointed to ministerial positions, special advisers and senior special advisers and assistants and a host lot of these appointees have totally not lived up to the expectations of Nigerians. They have not been effective at all. Nigerians want to continue to hear on a daily basis, the activities of government, the improvements being recorded, set backs being experienced and what Nigerians should expect in the next one year or six months. All the elected officials should rally round Mr. President, believe in, and support the implementation of his Renewed Hope Agenda without any reservations at all. Nigerians are going through stuffs at the moment, but we are confident that as Lagos State became the 5th largest economy in Africa from no where at all, Nigeria’s time of unending prosperity and abundance is also around the corners.
She finally called on the Honourable Minister of Information and all in charge of Mr. President’s official information management and the general information architecture of this administration at all levels to do more, because to whom much is given, much is required. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing great works, and must not fail. Nigeria must get it right now as he leads Nigerians in navigating the ship of our country through these turbulent and boisterous times to berth in an irreversibly prosperous state.
