Human Rights Activist, Senator Shehu Sani has said that Nigeria’s democracy is slowly legislatively transiting to fascism. In a message made public on his official social media handle, Sani said: “Slowly, our democracy legislatively transit to fascism.”
Senator Shehu Sani @ShehuSani who considers himself a PanAfricanist and a dedicated fighter for Freedom and Justice pointed out some of the legislations of the Nigerian National Assembly that target the rights of the citizenry to express themselves electronically and physically.
Shehu Sani’s statement suggests that such legislations are capable of denying the citizens the rights to freedom of speech and freedom to express themselves as steps in the prelude to legislatively turn the country’s democracy into fascism.
He said: “Law to censor the Social Media, Law to regulate NGOs and law to jail protesters; Slowly, our democracy legislatively transits to fascism.”
