The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has warned corps members against participation in political campaigns or using their NYSC identity and social media platforms to promote political parties and candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Nafiu issued the warning on Wednesday, during his working visit to the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream ll Orientation Course at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Karsina.
He said corps members must remain politically neutral and warned that appropriate action would be taken If their social media activities were traced to political promotion while using their NYSC identity.
The NYSC boss also cautioned them against blindly sharing or reposting information online, particularly misinformation and AI-generated content.
He urged them to verify sources, check when images were taken and determine whether content had been manipulated before sharing it.
Nafiu noted that corps members would play an important role in the 2027 elections because many are expected to serve as ad-hoc electoral personnel. He urged them to take the responsibility seriously and help promote credible, free and fair elections.
