National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed the commencement of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream ll Orientation Course for prospective corps members deployed to Sokoto and Niger states.
According to the scheme, the postponement was necessitated by operational challenges affecting the orientation camps in both states.
The NYSC announced the change in a statement issued by its Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, saying the affected camps are being renovated by their respective state governments.
In Niger State, the delay is due to ongoing renovation of Paiko Orientation Camp, which suffered extensive damage from a windstorm earlier this year. The rehabilitation work is yet to be completed, making the camp unsuitable for the exercise. For Sokoto State, the orientation course was also shifted due to camp-related operational issues.
In furtherance to the above, the new date for the commencement of the Orientation Course is Wednesday 12th August, while the Cut-Off/Swearing-in Ceremony date is Friday 14th August and Closing Ceremony holds on Tuesday 1st September 2026.
The postponement affects only prospective corps members assigned to the Sokoto and Niger orientation camps, while the NYSC’s Batch ‘B’ Stream ll programme continues as scheduled in other states.
The NYSC expressed regret over the inconvenience and urged all affected prospective corps members to awaits further updates.
